Lou Body
Retired player.
Signed insert card purchased at a card shop on September 21, 2012.
In defense of the former collegiate defenseman, calling Lou Body a draft bust is not really fair. After all, he was never drafted by an NHL team. So, it isn't like he was selected in the first round and didn't pan out. And yet, the Signature Rookies card company felt it wise to include him in their "Draft '96" set.
Why would the company put a guy who wasn't drafted in a draft picks set? And why would they pay that same guy money to autograph 4,500 cards.
The back of the card does not even try to make Body sound like an intriguing player. It fails to list his 1994-95 stats from when he played in the ECHL. But it does point out that he is a free agent and that he was a "consistent defensive-minded rearguard" in college. We all know how much collectors just love consistent, defensive defensemen. Especially the undrafted ones.
