Bryan Trottier

Retired player. Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997.

Fan letter sent: October 9, 2012.

Autographs received: October 20, 2012.

Two returns in 2 days. This one is also from a Hall of Fame player.

Bryan Trottier had an amazing career that spanned 18 seasons. He scored a staggering 1,425 points--524 goals and 901 assists. He also won the Stanley Cup 6 times--four times as a member of the New York Islanders and two more times with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was named the playoff MVP in 1980.

Trottier won rookie of the year honors, a scoring title and regular season MVP honors. He also won the Clancy Trophy for being a leader on and off the ice, was named a First Team All-Star two times and a Second Team All-Star two times.

When it comes to signing autographs, Trottier usually signs just one or maybe two cards per request. I sent him three cards, but only got this one back, signed in thin blue marker. Trottier kept the other two cards, which were from the 1981-82 Topps set. I'm a bit bummed he kept those cards--they were for an autograph project--but I am still very grateful to get a 'graph from a retired superstar.

This is the second time I have written to Trottier. Way back in 2007, Trottier signed 2 cards and kept the other 2 cards.
