Bryan BerardRetired player.
Signed insert card purchased at a card shop on September 21, 2012.
When this card was released in the 1994-95 season, defenseman Bryan Berard was a highly-touted prospect. He was drafted first overall in 1995 by the Ottawa Senators, but he refused to play for them. After another year in junior, he was traded to the New York Islanders and won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year.
In 2000, Berard sustained a serious eye injury and had to retire. He underwent seven eye surgeries which were able to restore his vision enough to allow him to play in the NHL again. The injury cost him a year of his career, but overall he played 12 seasons in the NHL and another season in the Kontinental League.
This card is signed in blue Sharpie marker and numbered 1922 / 2575.

Even though you didn't label it but he was a Chicago Blackhawk for 58 games in the season of 2003-04 scoring 15 goals with 34 assists totaling 47 so he had quite a productive season in Chicago.

Oops, thanks for pointing that out. I actually remember watching Berard play for the 'Hawks that season...maybe I'm just suppressing those dark years.
