Gilles Villemure

Retired player.

Fan letter sent: September 4,  2012.

Autographs received: September 17, 2012.

Gilles Villemure was a bit player for the New York Rangers in the mid-to-late 1960s, but blossomed into an NHL regular by the early 1970s. He was the co-winner of the Vezina Trophy with his teammate, Eddie Giacomin, in 1971.

After 5 solid seasons with the Rangers, Villemure was dealt to the Chicago Black Hawks, where he'd only play 21 games over the course of 2 years.

Villemure was so kind as to autograph my four cards in blue Sharpie marker. He even added his uniform number--#30--to his Rangers cards. I guess he did not remember his jersey number with the Chicago; it was #1.
