Eric NesterenkoRetired player.
Autographs obtained in person on July 21 & 22, 2012.
Eric Nesterenko had a long and successful playing career. He spent 4 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, followed by 16 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks. He played a year in Switzerland, then came back to play a season for the Chicago Cougars of the World Hockey Association. So, that's 20 years in the NHL, 1 year in the WHA and 1 year in Europe. Most of his time was spent playing in the "Original Six" era.
At the Chicago Blackhawks Convention last month, I was able to get 2 cards signed by Mr. Nesterenko in blue Sharpie marker.
Longtime readers of this blog are probably tired of hearing me mention this, but Eric Nesterenko was an actor (and the hockey consultant) for the 1986 film Youngblood. In the movie, he plays Blane Youngblood, father of main character Dean Youngblood. Towards the end of the film, Blane teaches Dean how to fight so he can protect himself from the mean ol' nasty Thunder Bay Bombers team. Youngblood is my second-favorite hockey film (after Slap Shot, naturally), but what made it extra cool was that a former Blackhawks player was in it.
Here are a few screenshots from the movie. I actually got a print-out of the top one signed by Nesterenko at the Blackhawks Convention in 2009.

Eric was also a subject of a chapter in Studs Terkel's book "Working".
That is interesting to know. I might have to read that book sometime.
