Alexander Salak was acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2011 with intentions of making him the backup goalie.

But then the 'Hawks signed Ray Emery and practically gave him the backup job.

So, Salak was sent down to the Rockford Icehogs. Over the course of the season, Salak lost the starting job to Carter Hutton, and eventually fell to third on the Icehogs depth chart.

Back in June, the Blackhawks released Salak. Most likely, he will go back to Europe for the 2012-13 season.
