Petri Kontiola played two seasons for the Rockford Icehogs of the AHL, and was called up by the Blackhawks for 12 games in 2007-08. He now plays in Russia.

Kontiola signed both of my cards in thick black marker. I sent my letter to him in Russia, but he waited until he was in Canada to send back my cards, and used his own return envelope instead of the one I provided.

But it was the inclusion of a third autographed card that made this one of my strangest TTM successes to date:


For some reason, Kontiola also enclosed an autographed card of Traktor teammate Michael Garnett. It is some sort of custom card printed on plastic instead of cardboard.

It is odd that Kontiola would enclose an autographed card of someone else--a custom card, no less! But what also caught me off guard is that it is a card of Garnett. After a TTM failure in 2010, I thought Garnett stopped signing autographs. But perhaps not.
