John Ferguson(1938 - 2007)
Former player, coach and general manager.
Autograph purchased at a card show on June 30, 2012.
John Ferguson played 8 seasons in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens and is considered the league's first "enforcer"--that is, a player whose sole purpose was to protect his teammates on the ice.
Ferguson would later work as a coach and general manager, both for the New York Rangers and the Winnipeg Jets. Sadly, he died of cancer in 2007.
When I saw this autographed card at a show this past weekend, I bought it without thinking twice. "Fergie" played a significant role in the history of the league, and I never did have the chance to write to him for an autograph. So I am happy that I found this card. It is signed in ballpoint pen, but it only cost me $10.

Over 300 points in 500 games... not bad for a 'goon'. Then again, playing with Jean Beliveau, anyone could get half a point per game...
He was also runner-up for the Calder trophy!
